Honoring the Past: Workers from Drexel 3 & 5

The site of Drexel 3 & 5 is being reimagined, once a place for building furniture, soon a place for building futures. We are transforming 27.87 acres into our flagship Innovation Campus, a hub for manufacturing, textile innovation, and circularity in Morganton, NC. As we redevelop the land, we honor the workers of the past and their deep connections to both people and place. The individuals featured here, former Drexel 3 & 5 workers ranging from interns to plant managers, each carry a unique story of how their time at the plant shaped their lives and careers, creating a living bridge between the site’s history and its future. Click on each image below to read their stories.

Do you have a story, memory, or photo to share?

We're creating an archive of photos, stories, and memories from folks who have a relationship to the old Drexel Furniture 3 & 5 Plant. As we work to develop the previous location of the plant into the new Innovation Campus, we want to honor the legacy of the workers from the past. If you have a story or photo you'd like to share, please fill out the form below, and you may be contacted by our Communications team for more information.
