Catherine Armstrong

Program Director, Textile Innovation Engine of North Carolina | The Industrial Commons

Born and raised in rural North Carolina, Catherine is passionate about social impact and how innovative business models can be used to create sustainable change in communities. Catherine is the 2016 recipient of the Dr. James R. Leutze Merit Scholarship Endowment at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she studied Business Administration with concentrations in Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, and Spanish. During her time at UNCW, she represented the university abroad in Russia, Argentina, and Iceland. Before TIC, Catherine worked for MISSIO Hair—a social impact company leveraging the beauty industry to fight human trafficking; tekMountain where she traveled the world researching social impact ecosystems; and HALF UNITED—a social impact brand working to fight hunger worldwide. In her free time, Catherine enjoys traveling, sewing garments with heirloom textiles, discovering new music, and finding new places to watch the sunset.
