David Cannon has over thirty years of governmental and higher education experience. David’s background reflects experience in governmental finance having served as the County

Administrator of Delaware County, Ohio, and Chief Financial Officer for Union County in

Monroe, North Carolina. David has brought higher education and non-profit experience to The Industrial Commons from his time as the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Data Management for the Ohio Department of Education and Owens Community College. After leading the financial turnaround at Owens and removal from “Fiscal Watch” within 18 months, David retired back to North Carolina. 

Since his retirement, David has worked to improve the financial operations at several colleges and universities while serving as an Interim Placement CFO. In these roles, David instituted long-term financial planning, improving internal controls and focus on operational efficiencies, and managing funding sources. He has the unique perspective to view the entire organization while improving its financial condition. He has also served our country as a member of the U.S. Air Force and as a Platoon Leader in the Ohio Army National Guard. 

David lives in Monroe, North Carolina with his wife Theresa. They are the parents of two sons. David and Theresa enjoy taking long weekend trips and spending time with family. David is an avid golfer and enjoys running to relax.
